3 of our 4 New Franchisees are former Teachers

We are welcoming four new franchisees to our Tribe this summer. Cirencester, Reigate, Wokingham and Marlow are all looking forward to having their first clubs and we have already had a fantastic response from parents locally. Meet Gayle, Dan, Mel and George – our four new Outdoors Project Franchisees -  who are currently being trained up in how to run their own businesses. Other than George, who is a mother of 5, so very accomplished at managing groups of children, Dan, Mel and Gayle are moving on from the teaching profession.
Dan says that after 9 years in schools as a teacher and pastoral worker, his desire to work with young people has never been stronger and sees the move to running his own clubs as a means of reconnecting with his passion. Dan says,

“After 9 years of teaching, I want to focus again on the important things; fun and creativity. Getting kids outdoors and away from screens”

Mel in Cirencester has worked across all types of schools and children’s activity sectors – from inner city academies to camps in America. Mel qualified as a P.E. teacher aged 22 and has loved her career in teaching, but now wants something different.

“Since my daughter and son were born, I have been looking for new opportunities close to home that gives me more work life balance.”

Asked about how she came to this Mel says “I came across the Outdoors project via a online advert and then attended a Discovery Day in Brighton & Hove. I love the brand, especially its core values and activity sessions. I wish I could be a kid again and attend the clubs!” Mel has secured a fantastic venue in Cirencester and is generating significant volume of bookings already, for her August launch.

Gayle, is a former classics teacher so our Percy Jackson themed days are a particular favourite of hers. After more than 10 years of teaching I feel like it’s time to get outside more and share the benefit with others. I love working with children and the Outdoors Project seemed like a fantastic way to combine those passions.
