Kensuke's Kingdom After-school club session. Worthing, Shoreham and Crawley

We wanted to show you some of the awesome artwork that has been done recently, during our after-school club session, Kensuke’s Kingdom from our Literature to life series. Kensuke's Kingdom is a wonderful book by writer Michael Morpurgo based around a young boy Michael and his dog who fall from a boat whilst on a round the world trip with his parents. They become stranded on an island with a Japanese soldier “Kensuke”. The island is full of mystery and wild animals and Michael must learn to survive and befriend this new strange islander. The task for our after-school clubbers was to create a cherry blossom tree with Tree bark rubbing and blossom painting and add their initials or name using Japanese alphabet lettering! They certainly succeeded. It was fantastic to see their creativity run wild choosing different colours and style's to create their trees. The time and care they put into their trees and lettering shows in how well they turned out.
